My Philosophy of Teaching:
A – Acknowledging that teaching is a way of life. It is a way of life that is both challenging and rewarding. It requires passion, integrity and authenticity at all times. I will be thankful for this way of life while I strive to be in the present moment with my students.
T – Thoughtfulness. I believe that as a teacher I must always be considerate and aware of my students’ needs. Being able to share in my students’ goals, hopes and dreams requires an open heart and a desire to experience, along with them, challenges and triumphs. I need to listen. I need learn. I need to lead. I must be generous with my time and respect the gifts and uniqueness of each of my students.
E – Emotions plays an enormous role in both teaching and learning. “Neuroscientists have stated: emotions drive attention and attention drives learning and memory.” Many memories are formed at school and within the classroom. There has to be an emotional component to my teaching because I believe in a holistic approach.
A – Accountability. I will be in the public eye at all times. I want to be a positive role model for my students. How I wish to be treated is exactly I should treat my students. I must remain accountable at all times for my own actions and words.
